About Gomti River Front Development

  • Ex-Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav, apprised Ex-Minister for Irrigation, Shri Shivpal Singh Yadav of the need for overall development of the Gomti River, which was fast turning into a drain and expressed the desire of developing greenery on the banks of the Gomti River, as per International standards.
  • Ex-Irrigation and Water Resources Minister, Shri Shivpal Singh Yadav and the Principal Secretary, Irrigation, Shri Deepak Singhal, visited Japan and studied the riverfront development, developed in Tokyo and Osaka cities and also gathered details about other riverfronts developed in other countries of the world. They, then directed the Irrigation and Water Resources Department to rejuvenate the Gomti River, the lifeline of Lucknow, and to develop a world-class riverfront on its banks.
