Origin of Eastern Yamuna Canal is from left bank of Hatnikund in Saharanpur district from Yamuna river. Operation/maintenance of Hatnikund Hand Works is done by Haryana Irrigation Department. Discharge of Chief Yamuna Canal is 4400 cusec. Cultivation work takes place in Hindon and Yamuna Doab of Saharanpur, Muzzafarnagar, Shamli, Baghpat and Ghaziabad district by Yamuna Canal System. Parallel Deoband Lining Branch

Due to less availability of water in Yamuna river, Eastern Yamuna canal faces the scarcity of water, so to solve this issue Parallel Deoband Lining Branch was established. Out of extra ganga water made available to upper Ganga from Tihri reservoir, 1100 cusec water is supplied to 88.600 K.M. of Eastern Yamuna Canal through this feeder channel. Total length of this Lining canal is 55.006 K.M. The construction work of this canal was completed in 2008-09. From June, 2009 this canal is being operated continuously. Cultivation facility is being possessed in Shamli, Baghpat, and Ghaziabad district by water being made available to Eastern Yamuna Canal through this canal. This Lining canal is also supplying 300 cusec water to Kallarpur Rajwaha System, which permanently increases the ground water flow in Hindon Krishani Doad zone and provide cultivation facility to farmers in Khareef and Rabi crop.

(2) Saline Canal System

Origin of Saline Canal System is from left bank of Yamuna river in 10.00 K.M. up-stream of Hathinikund Barrage. The length of main canal of this canal system is 7.80 K.M., length of Rajwaha is 58.963 K.M. and length of Alpika is 6.20 K.M. In year 2015-16 crop year 1423 cultivation recorded is 0.04 lac hectare.

(3) Agra Canal System

Project of Khareef Canals in Hindon Krishni Doab

For reimbursement of continuously falling of ground water of area between Hindon, Krishni river and for cultivation in Khareef crop in Muzzafarnagar and Baghpat district under project 102.250 K.M. canals are constructed and 11600 hectare cultivation capacity is being proposed. Till now 98.200 K.M. canals are constructed and 11040 hectare cultivation capacity has been created. Irrigation facility is being provided through constructed canals. In year 2015-16, Khareef 1423 689 hectare and 168 hectare cultivation is recorded.
